ROJAS GIVES LEXUS EIGHTH STRAIGHT TOP-TWO IN QUALIFYING; #01 LEXUS ON OUTSIDE OF FRONT ROW AT WATKINS GLEN

WATKINS GLEN, New York (Aug. 6, 2009) – Memo Rojas qualified second for the Crown Royal 200 at The Glen on the Watkins Glen International short course Thursday to give Lexus its eighth consecutive front-row starting position in Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series competition.

Rojas will once again partner with Scott Pruett in Friday’s two hour event. In addition to being second in Friday’s 15-minute qualifying session, the #01 Lexus was fastest in each of the day’s two practice sessions. The Lexus-powered duo enters the race as the series points leaders as the top three cars are separated by a total of one point.

The team’s eight front-row starting spots are made up of four pole positions and four seconds. The #01 Telmex Lexus has now qualified on the front row at every race since the season-opening Rolex 24 in January.

Tomorrow’s race is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. (EDT), but will be televised on a same-day delay basis beginning at 8:00 p.m. (EDT) on SPEED.

Notes:

- The Lexus-powered Chip Ganassi Racing #01 Lexus will be attempting to win for the second time at Watkins Glen this season after previously winning the six-hour event at The Glen in June.

- The Lexus-powered Ganassi team has been on the front row in each of the last eight races since the Rolex 24.

- Lexus will be looking for its 26th win in the series since 2004 and its third victory in the last four races.

Lexus Starting Positions:
#01 - Rojas/Pruett - 2nd

Memo Rojas: “We were able to fix some brake issues before the practice. We were a little too aggressive with some set-up changes we made and weren’t real happy with the car we had for qualifying. It’s going to be an interesting race tomorrow.”
