PRUETT, LEXUS ON FRONT ROW IN NEW JERSEYPruett will co-drive with Memo Rojas at the track where the duo clinched the 2008 Rolex Series championship. Rain is expected for Sunday’s race.
Rojas and Pruett come into this weekend’s event fourth in points after finishing second at the season-opening Rolex 24, and finishing 12th a week ago in Virginia after running in the top-three late in the race before being knocked off the track with three laps remaining. The late-race incident has resulted in Pruett and Rojas not leading the Rolex Sports Car Series driver’s championship standings heading into tomorrow’s race for the first time in 16 races.
Sunday’s green flag is scheduled to drop at 1:00 p.m. EDT, with SPEED live coverage.
Notes:
- Lexus will be looking for its 24th win in the series since 2004 on Sunday.
- Despite a Thursday testing crash that forced the team to miss every session prior to the race, the #01 Telmex Lexus driven by Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas drove up through the field from last to finish ninth in last year’s Grand-Am event at the New Jersey Motorsports Park and clinch the Rolex Sports Car Series team and driver’s championships.
Lexus Starting Positions:
#01 Pruett/Rojas 2nd
Scott Pruett: “We’re happy with the front row spot, but the weather conditions are going to play a big role tomorrow. Weather will definitely dictate what we do in terms of strategy. Memo’s shown that he can run strong in the rain, so we think we’ll be in good shape.”
