Biography

Print
Versatile character actor William Fichtner’s most recent role was on screen in the Nicolas Cage action movie “Drive Angry 3D.” Perhaps it’s a sign that Fichtner will drive away with the crown at the Toyota Pro/Celebrity race.

Fichtner has appeared in such big-screen blockbusters as “Armageddon,” “Black Hawk Down,” “The Perfect Storm,” “Date Night,” “Blades of Glory” and Michael Mann’s “Heat.” He was one of the winners of the Screen Actors Guild award for Best Ensemble Cast in a Feature Film for his performance in Paul Haggis’ Academy Award–winning “Crash.”

He has starred in buzz-worthy indies like “Go,” directed by Doug Liman; Rodrigo Garcia’s “Nine Lives” and Kevin Spacey’s directorial debut “Albino Alligator.” He recently finished filming the independent feature “The Big Bang,” opposite Antonio Banderas.

Fichtner is no less fluid on the small screen. He starred for three seasons on Fox’s hit drama series “Prison Break,” starred with Paul Newman and Ed Harris in HBO’s critically acclaimed adaptation of Richard Russo’s “Empire Falls” and opposite Eddie Cibrian in ABC’s tragically short-lived “Invasion.” He appeared on NBC’s “The West Wing” and can currently be seen in a recurring role on HBO’s “Entourage.”

Fichtner is also a member of the Circle Repertory Theatre; he won critics over on stage in “The Fiery Furnace,” and has appeared in numerous productions in New York and the Williamstown Theatre festival.
