Biography

BMX champion Jamie Bestwick’s résumé is a list of first-place wins, but when the Vert rider trades two wheels for four in the 2010 Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race, his fans will get to see if he can ramp up his driving skills for a win in another category.

For the past six years, Bestwick, who is currently the top-ranked BMX Vert rider in the world, has been virtually undefeated. As winner of the NORA Cup award for rider of the year in the ramp category every year from 1995 to 2007, winner of almost every stop on the AST Dew Tour since its 2005 launch and the first BMX athlete to secure a three-peat in the X Games, Bestwick is also known as one of the hardest-working athletes in the field.

Noted for the fluidity of his style and the originality of his tricks, Bestwick trains at Woodward East in Pennsylvania, where he has built a reputation for pushing the envelope with style-conscious innovation that has helped take BMX Vert riding to new heights.

Bestwick helps raise money for the Steven Murray Fund, which benefits injured BMX rider Murray. A native of England, Bestwick now lives in Woodward, Penn.

Highlights:

  • Was Alliance of Action Sports overall champion in the Vert category in 2009

  • Has won almost every stop on the AST Dew Tour since its 2005 launch

  • Has won the X Games Vert gold medal six times
