BARK RIVER DOUBLE PUTS GREAVES IN THE DRIVING SEAT

BARK RIVER, Mich., July 10-11 - Toyota Tundra driver Johnny Greaves was the class of the PRO 4X4 field at Bark River International Raceway. The Toyota Tundra driver swept both races at the fast, 1.5-mile Michigan track, grabbing the lead in the Traxxas TORC Series point standings from fellow Toyota racer Rick Huseman in the process.

Starting fifth in Saturday’s race, Greaves powered his Monster Energy Tundra into the lead on the first lap and was never headed after that.

“We were able to get the lead on the first lap without too much issue,” said Greaves. “Everything went great. I’ve got to thank my crew, my wife, my kids, everybody. They just pour their hears and souls into this.”

Sunday, he followed it with another trouble-free victory, making it three wins out of four in the 2010 season. Adding to a dominant weekend for the Wisconsin native and his family, Greaves earned both Oakley Bomb Awards for fastest race lap (1:20.331s Saturday and 1:22.894s in a weather-threatened Sunday race) and son CJ (pictured with Dad) went from dead last to second in Saturday’s Super Buggy race.

Huseman, whose win and second-place in the Crandon, Wis., season opener had put him in the PRO 4X4 points lead heading to Bark River, had a challenging weekend on Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Second in Saturday’s race, his weekend took a dive Sunday when he tangled with Mike Jenkins before the green flag. He limped on with a badly damaged front end, but called it a day with two laps to run and was classified sixth. He drops to second in the standings, 10 points behind Greaves.

Greaves’ Michigan double means Toyota continues to head the PRO 4X4 manufacturer points, with a run of four straight victories to its name.

In PRO 2WD, Jeremy McGrath looked on course for his first win of the season in Saturday’s race, but was forced to call it a day prematurely when a damaged front fender on his Monster Energy Tundra rode up and obscured his view – not a good thing on a track as fast and challenging as Bark River. He consoled himself with the Oakley Bomb Award for fastest lap (1:23.544s).

“I had a great time out there,” said McGrath. “I knew I had to make some quick move to get right to the front. We didn’t get the grand prize (a win), but at least we got something.”

Sunday, McGrath was ninth, leaving him eighth in the PRO 2 standings as the Traxxas TORC Series heads to Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway, Wis., for Rounds 5 and 6 racing under the lights July 23-24.
