Kincaid stays "Hot" in Chula VistaThe mercury was soaring with record temperatures over 100 degrees on Saturday, July 22, to start Round 7. When the green flag flew, 25 Pro-Lite trucks were off. The temperature was not the only heat in California; the race was heated from the start. Jeff got the hole shot, and was in the lead with less than one lap completed when two severe wrecks caused a red flag situation. This led to a complete restart of the race. This time when the green flag flew there were 22-Pro-Lites to start.
Kincaid came around turn one in third place, closely following the two Ford's of Rob Naughton and Randy Eller. Jeff kept steady pressure on Eller and after two laps of intense racing; Eller came into turn three to hot and ended up rolling over.
This resulted in Jeff now riding in second place. Trouble hit Naughton's Ford as it developed mechanical problems and he had to drop out of the race. Jeff assumed the lead at this point. With the mandatory yellow being displayed on the ninth lap, Kincaid had the lead followed by the Nissan's of Chad Hord and Art Schmidt. Jeff, dictating the pace on the restart, slowed the whole field down, and then as the green flag flew he rocketed his Toyota toward turn two creating a few truck lengths between them. With six laps of racing remaining, Hord was trying to pressure Kincaid into a mistake. Kincaid stayed focused and never missed a mark, nor did his Toyota Tacoma as it withstood the record temperatures and heat of the race. When the checkered flag flew Jeff Kincaid's Forest County Potawatomi Toyota Tacoma came across the line with another Pro-Lite win.
Round 8 began on Sunday, July 23 with the temperature in the high 90's, and 25 Pro-Lites came out for the start of the race. At the drop of the green flag the Pro-Lites raced toward turn one with no clear leader. The very tight conditions going into this corner found Kincaid's FCPTT in the fourth position. In the corner Jeff made a very slick veteran move toward the outside and moved his way around Ampudia's Ford, for the third position, closely following the Nissan of Chad Hord and the Ford of Randy Eller.
For two laps the three raced hard until Eller rolled over the edge of turn five. Jeff continued to race tight on Hord checking possible lines when he could make his move to pass. On lap five there was a red flag situation, which caused a single file rolling restart.
On this restart, the trucks stayed in line through turn two with Kincaid closely following Hord into turn three. Going into turn three (nicknamed "Calamity Corner" because of past wrecks) Hord's Nissan bicycled allowing Kincaid to take the lead.
As the raced progressed, LeDuc and Naughton moved into second and third place respectfully. When the ninth lap mandatory yellow flew it tightened the field once again for the rolling restart. On the restart Jeff had to be on his mark because the Ford's of LeDuc and Naughton were looking for a victory. Jeff demonstrated focused and strategic driving skills for the next six laps to maintain the lead and secure another Pro-Lite victory! Jeff Kincaid has increased his points lead with 120, followed by Chad Hord with 92. Kincaid stated after the race, "I would like to thank all of my sponsors: Forest County Potawatomi, Toyota, TRD, BF Goodrich tires, One Prospect Technologies, FOX shocks, WEB cam, Goodwin Performance, and Sunoco Racing Fuels."
The next event will be in beautiful Bark River Michigan for rounds 9 & 10 of the Pro-Lite series. Jeff is looking forward to racing at the Bark River fast track.
