Johnny Greaves Takes Control - Dominates CORR Racing Weekend and Wins 2006 Potawatomi Chairman's CupThe Chairman's cup is an annual race with the Pro-4, Sportsman 2 and the Pro 2 all going after the $25,000 check and a silver cup. It is a little difficult for anyone to win because the Pro 2 and Sportsman 2 get about a 5-10 second head start on the Pro 4 trucks. So, Greaves had to pass the entire field of Sportsman and Pro-2 trucks to get out front in a 10 lap, all out battle in the dirt.
"This is just so great to come back home for my sponsors and give them wins in all three races" said an elated Johnny Greaves. "This is so special to me and my long-time relationship with the Forrest County Potawatomi people. They have been with me all along and it's always special to deliver for all my wonderful teammates" Johnny explained.
The race was very intense with Pro 2 sensation Scott Taylor pulling a big lead with Monster backed Jerry Welchel closing hard on Taylor. Meanwhile Greaves was blasting his way through the huge crowd of trucks and making daring all out attacks in the corners. "I new he was going to either win it or not finish" explained Joe Parsons of Monster Beverage Co. "This guy is one of the most intense racers I have seen in all of off-road. We are really excited to have Johnny wearing a Monster Helmet".
After Johnny passed into third place the real racing started with a battle with Jerry Welchel. Welchel fought hard to hold off a hard charging greaves and was aided for a lap by a caution, flag. However, Greaves charged his way around Welchel and the chase was on for the Cup. It took Greave's BF Goodrich shod Toyota Tundra truck just two laps to overtake Taylor for the lead with three laps to go. Greaves went on to win by a comfortable margin, giving Johnny his 2nd Potawatomi Chairman's cup.
With the two CORR wins in rounds 3 and 4, this puts Johnny Greaves in a close run for the series points lead.
