HISTORY

NASCAR Nationwide Series History During its first three seasons and 105 races in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS), Toyota has visited victory lane 37 times, recorded 31 pole positions and earned 141 top-five finishes. Jason Leffler became the first driver to win a race in a Camry in NASCAR competition when he took the checkered flag at O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis on July 28, 2007.


In 2009, Camry drivers won 15 races and registered 13 pole positions. Three Toyota drivers finished the year among the top-10 in the championship point standings, including Kyle Busch who won the NNS driver’s title. In addition, Joe Gibbs Racing won its second consecutive owner’s championship and Toyota earned its second straight series manufacturer’s championship. Busch earned a series-high nine victories, while Joey Logano (five) and Marcos Ambrose (one) also secured wins in 2009 behind the wheel of a Camry. Toyota drivers with multiple pole positions included Logano (four), Busch (three) and Denny Hamlin (two). In addition, Ambrose, Trevor Bayne, Scott Speed and Brian Vickers each earned one pole in 2009.
