One of the most innovative and successful minds in NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing, Alan Johnson has won nine Top Fuel championships as a crew chief and team manager. He moved into his current role as owner of Alan Johnson Racing and team manager for Al-Anabi Racing in 2009. Since that time, he has guided the team to 17 Top Fuel wins over the past two seasons, including a series-high 12 victories on the way to the 2010 Top Fuel championship with Larry Dixon. Johnson has now been involved in winning six of the last seven Top Fuel titles. In addition, he oversaw the Funny Car operation that saw Del Worsham also qualify for the Countdown to the Championship playoffs, eventually placing seventh. In 2009, the team fell just two points shy of earning the Top Fuel championship in its debut season as Dixon won five races, while Worsham had three Funny Car victories on the way to an overall seventh-place finish. The Al-Anabi team is owned by His Highness Sheikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Thani, who has set a goal of promoting the domestic and international awareness of motorsports in the nation of Quatar. Including his sportsman-level successes with his late brother Blaine Johnson, Johnson has amassed 13 championships in his career, including four in Top Alcohol and nine in Top Fuel. Additionally, Johnson has tuned his drivers to eight national records, including six elapsed time and two top speed marks. He tuned Tony Schumacher to five consecutive Top Fuel titles from 2004 through 2008.
