DIXON OUT-DUELS BROWN IN ALL-TOYOTA TOP FUEL FINAL AT NORWALK

NORWALK, Ohio (June 27, 2010) – For the second time in three weeks it was a Larry Dixon-Antron Brown all-Toyota Top Fuel final and once again Dixon came away victorious by the narrowest of margins - .002 seconds - at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series’ Summit Racing Equipment Nationals at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio, Sunday.

The weekend ran true to form as Dixon and Brown qualified one-two heading into today’s elimination rounds, with Dixon earning his fourth pole of the season with a 3.780 run on Friday night. The Al-Anabi Racing driver then defeated Troy Buff, Doug Foley and Tony Schumacher on his way to the finals. Brown, who qualified in the top two for the sixth time in the last 11 races, eliminated Luigi Novelli, Pat Dakin and Cory McClenathan.

The victory was the second in a row for Dixon at Summit Motorsports Park and a series-high seventh of the season - his sixth in the last nine races. He now owns a 176-point lead in the Top Fuel championship point race.

For Brown, this weekend marked his fifth finals appearance of the season, with Dixon defeating him in each of the last three. His third straight semi-final or final showing has pushed him into fourth place in the Top Fuel point standings.

Rounding out the Top Fuel contingent, Shawn Langdon advanced to the second round before being eliminated in a narrow loss to Tony Schumacher. Langdon’s teammate, Morgan Lucas, was eliminated in the first round after qualifying seventh.

In Funny Cars, Del Worsham advanced to the semi-finals for the third consecutive week in a row in his Al-Anabi Toyota Camry Solara, where he lost on a holeshot despite running the lowest ET of the round. He defeated Tony Pedregon in the first round and then eliminated Jack Beckman for the third straight race in round two. Fellow Camry Solara driver Cruz Pedregon was upset in the first round by Paul Lee after qualifying eighth.

After four races in four weeks, the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series will take next weekend off before resuming at Pacific Raceways with the Northwest Nationals, July 9-11.

Quotes:

Larry Dixon, Al-Anabi Racing Toyota Top Fuel Dragster: “The credit goes to the Al-Anabi team. Right now they’re just in the zone. Everybody’s worked hard to make sure we have a great car in every session we run. Seven-for-seven (in the finals) – I feel real fortunate. We’ve had some tight races that easily could have gone the other way. It was a great drag race (the finals vs. Antron Brown). We try to do everything the same each time out. Everything is about consistency and today it all worked out. To win three times in this four-week stretch is huge.”

Antron Brown, Matco Tools Toyota Top Fuel Dragster: “Man what a great drag race. We put on a great show for the fans. Right now, we have an Al-Anabi monkey on our back. We just can’t seem to beat those guys. We’ve moved up into fourth-place in the points and our Matco Tools car continues to run great. We’ll just go get back and keep working hard and try to win some races beginning at Seattle.”
