DIXON LEADS SATURDAY QUALIFYING AT ENGLISHTOWNBy leading both of Saturday’s sessions, Dixon has now registered the fastest pass in 10 of the last 15 Top Fuel qualifying runs. He earned a total of seven bonus points for qualifying – the most of any Top Fuel driver. The two-time Top Fuel champion and current points leader will be starting in the top three for the 10th time in 11 2010 races.
Dixon wasn’t the only Toyota driver to excel in qualifying and earn bonus points, though. Antron Brown was third on Friday night to add a single point and earned the fourth position in tomorrow’s eliminations. Shawn Langdon was second in the weekend’s first session to earn two bonus points and qualify seventh. In Funny Car, Cruz Pedregon also received one bonus point for being third-quick on Saturday morning to continue a strong weekend.
Morgan Lucas rounds out the Toyota Top Fuel contingent in the 11th position. A tight Funny Car field will see the two Toyota-sponsored cars of Pedregon and Del Worsham square off in the first round as the eighth and ninth qualifiers.
Sunday’s ESPN2 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series coverage begins with NHRA RaceDay at 3:30 p.m. EDT, followed with coverage of eliminations running from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. EDT.
