One of the top young drivers in the sport, after a fifth-place overall finish in 2010, Shawn Langdon is one of the dark-horse contenders for the 2011 title. After a fairly slow start to the 2010 campaign, Langdon came on strong down the stretch and advanced to the finals twice in the season’s final four races. He also registered three semi-final appearances during the course of the season. He began his career in the NHRA Junior Dragster ranks, winning the 1997 national championship at age 14. He progressed in amateur competition, winning the Super Comp title at the JEGS All-Stars event in Chicago in both 2005 and 2006. In 2007 and 2008, Langdon captured back-to-back Super Comp national championships in the Lucas Oil Draft Racing Series. In 2009, he began his professional career in Top Fuel with the Morgan Lucas Racing team. Langdon was a top candidate for Rookie of the Year honors after qualifying at every event, making the semis on eight occasions and earning his first finals appearance at Charlotte. He placed ninth overall for the season. He established 1000 feet career bests of 3.826 in E.T. and 315.78 mph for best speed.
