The reigning Top Fuel champion, Larry Dixon won a series-high 12 races and was the number one qualifier eight times in 2010. Included among his victories were the Winternationals at Pomona and the U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis. Entering the 2011 season, Dixon is second on the all-time Top Fuel wins list with 60 wins, just six behind all-time leader Tony Schumacher. Dixon burst onto the Top Fuel scene in 1995, earning Rookie-of-the-Year honors. That season he became the third rookie to win the $100,000 Budweiser Shootout, the first Top Fuel rookie to win at Indianapolis since 1972 and set NHRA’s elapsed time record at Englishtown. After becoming the first Top Fueler to go under 4.5 seconds in 1999, Dixon earned his initial NHRA championship in 2002 after leading the point standings all season. He tied the then single-season Top Fuel record for victories with nine. In 2003, Dixon became just the fifth driver to win consecutive NHRA Top Fuel titles and also clocked his career-best speed (332.75 mph) which stood as a national record for 15 events. In 2005, he moved ahead of Don Garlits on all-time Top Fuel wins list after winning in Las Vegas. He moved from Prudhomme Racing to Al-Anabi Racing prior to the 2009 season and scored five wins in the team’s debut season, finishing as the series runner-up. Dixon’s quickest elapsed time to 1000 feet is 3.772 seconds (Houston 2010) and his top speed to 1000 feet is 324.36 mph.
