BUSCH TAKES THIRD-STRAIGHT TRUCK TRIUMPH AT BRISTOL

Kyle Comes from the Back to Win Again at Tennessee Track

BRISTOL, Tenn. (August 18, 2010) -- Kyle Busch won his third-consecutive NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) race at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway on Wednesday night, driving from the back of the field to lead the final 116 (of 206) laps en route to victory lane.

Busch earned the pole position in the No. 18 Tundra -- the 75th for Toyota since the manufacturer joined the series in 2004 -- but unapproved changes to the truck after qualifying forced the 25-year-old Las Vegas native to start from the rear of the field. Busch took the lead first on lap 91 and never looked back, saving enough fuel for a late race start to hold off runner-up Aric Almirola.

“It worried me a little bit just having to start back there and try to come through traffic,” said Busch, following the race. “We got up through there. We were passing guys one at a time, just kind of biding our time getting our way up there. Being in victory lane at Bristol is pretty cool.”

It is Busch’s third-straight NCWTS triumph at Bristol, also winning at the half-mile Tennessee track in 2008 and 2009. The victory is also Busch’s third of the 2010 season, with wins at Nashville (April 2) and Charlotte (May 21) before Bristol.

Toyota has now won nine of 16 NCWTS races in 2010 and 74 since 2004.

Aric Almirola (second), Mike Skinner (fourth), Justin Lofton (fifth), Todd Bodine (sixth), Timothy Peters (eighth) and Miguel Paludo (ninth) also scored top-10 finishes for Toyota. Paludo’s finish comes in his first-career NCWTS start.

“The team put the truck in one week together so I’m really proud of all the guys,” said Paludo, following the race. “I’m happy, I’m really happy. We had a tight truck, a loose truck, a lot of different trucks in the race, but you can’t imagine how happy I am. Every person I talked with said, ‘Why Bristol? It’s tough.’ It’s perfect. I’m real happy and it’s a team effort.”

Tundra drivers Max Papis (14th), David Starr (23rd) and Donny Lia (30th) were also in the field.

With the finish, Bodine now leads the unofficial NCWTS standings by 211 points over Almirola following Bristol. Peters (third), Skinner (eighth) and Starr (ninth) are also in the top-10 in points after 16 of 25 races.

The Camping World Truck Series returns to action at Chicagoland Speedway, Aug. 27.
