How hard did you have to work for this win tonight?
“They made me earn it three times tonight, four times actually. I’m not usually that good on restarts. I knew, especially with Ron (Hornaday Jr.) outside me, he’s the king of restarts. I had to get a good one and that last one I got a good one, didn’t spin the tires except for right before third gear. It was a good start. The Tundra ran good. We got a little tight when Ron passed me, it was a little too tight behind him once we got out in front it was good.”
How did it feel to lead the most laps in tonight’s race?
“It felt great. We’ve been struggling all year to make the trucks drive good and (Mike Hillman) Junior went to work and figured it out. That’s how you can go fast when trucks are driving good and this truck was driving good and it was fast. It was wide open. It was fun to drive, it really was. We got that one run when Ron (Hornaday Jr.) passed us, we got really tight and we had to adjust on it and get it right for the end. That pit stop, the crew did an unbelievable job. They beat everybody out by a second or two. That was the difference in getting us back out up front in clean air where we could run good. You have to have everything go right and that’s what happened tonight. We had a great Tundra and Valvoline being the first race for them with the team to come out here with a win -- I think that’s the second time we’ve done that with a new sponsor. We did it with Lumber Liquidators and now with Valvoline. It was an awesome night all the way around.”
How does winning at Texas set your team up for the summer stretch of races?
“It’s great to come out of here with the win, obviously. Everybody talks about momentum and what it does for your team. Our guys, it wouldn’t matter if we came out of here finishing 30th, they’re going to go home and work just as hard for the next race and prepare the best they can. That’s the one good thing about our race team -- we don’t ever give up. To come out of here with a win for the stretch, it’s awesome but it’s just one win, it’s one track and we have to go to Michigan next week and beat them up there. It’s great to finally get back to victory lane. That’s two years in a row we’ve won this race. It’s awesome, it’s good to come to Texas every time.”
How does it feel to be so strong here at Texas?
“It’s an honor anywhere to win a race and to be able to say that you’ve won the most at a track -- it's pretty awesome. We’re pretty proud of the fact that we can come to Texas and run this well every time. We’ve had a lot of top three finishes besides the win. It’s some place that we enjoy. To come out of here being the only six time winner, it was a goal I guess you could say when Kyle (Busch) won five to come back here and get another one to win six. To be able to get that done, I’m pretty proud of that.”

Can you talk about your race?
“The truck was good all night. Jeff Hensley (crew chief) and everybody did a great job on this Strutmasters.com Crescent Tools Toyota Tundra. I made a rookie mistake on that restart, that’s what got us behind. We did what we had to do. It was a good point’s night and we’ll go on to Michigan next week.”

How was your tonight?
“It was another race where I learned a lot really. It was such a long race, it’s difficult to say. The truck was good to start then in the middle part of the race, I struggled. I was loose, tight -- we were struggling during pit stops trying to fix the truck. We were hanging in there and not crashing, not getting involved in accidents and staying on the lead lap. At the end we had a really good run, a really good chance to finish in the top three and one of the green trucks, he went in the grass and it covered the front of my truck and the water temperature went all the way up. I had to pit and I had take it off the fan and we lost a few places. That was it. I lost the race over there. If it wasn’t for that, I’m sure we could have finished top three, easily. For my fourth truck race against these guys who have been here for years, I think we’re doing a good job. In Michigan we’re going to have another good, long race to get laps to learn and another good truck like I had this weekend.”

Was your truck hard to handle tonight?
“We really didn’t practice this setup. We put it in going into qualifying, so we didn’t have any time on it. We just made a couple of , we just didn’t know on the adjustments we made and then after we started going back the other way, it started getting good. Then twice within a quarter of a lap of grabbing the ‘lucky dog’ we just couldn’t get it. It made for a really long day. I still have to thank Kyle (Busch, owner) and everybody for letting me come and do this. I wish I could have done a better job for him but I guess we were able to come out of here to move on to the next one. If we would have got the ‘lucky dog’ and one more adjustment, I think we could have ran in the top-five, we just didn’t have a top-five truck at the beginning. It was no where near it. By the end, I think we had a close to a top-five truck we were just on the wrong lap.”

What happened on the race track?
“Coming on the restart, everything was jumbled up at the beginning, I don’t know why. Half the field was half the track back and all of a sudden we’re going green. We got jumbled up and stuck behind some slower trucks that probably weren’t where they supposed to be. Got behind (Ron) Hornaday and David Starr came up and we started racing hard. I was up on the high groove in Hornaday’s draft going down the backstretch, pulling a little bit faster. I know it’s a tough angle for the spotters up there, but some of these guys need to listen a little bit more and maybe give a little bit more than they take. All these veterans out here are always telling us to give and take and all they seem to do is take. It’s just real unfortunate for everyone on the No. 7 VisitPit.com Toyota Tundra.”
