BUSCH GOES BACK-TO-BACK AT BRISTOL - Wins for Fifth Time on Tennessee Short Track

BRISTOL, Tenn. (August 19, 2009) -- Kyle Busch won his third NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCWTS) race of the season Wednesday night at Bristol Motor Speedway, defending his victory from one year ago at the half-mile Tennessee oval.

Busch passed Jason White for the lead on lap 124 of 200 and pulled away after a pair of late-race restarts, beating runner-up Matt Crafton to the finish line by 2.721 seconds. The 24-year-old Las Vegas-native started sixth in the Billy Ballew Motorsports No. 51 Miccosukee Resorts Tundra and led twice for a total of 82 laps.

“It was a good night for us. I’m really proud of the whole Miccosukee Toyota team, they did a great job,” said Busch, following the race. “It’s hard to come out here every week and race with minimal guys, but we try to do it and we do the best we can. I love this place. It’s fun for all of us drivers. It’s a fun place to race and for some reason I have really taken to the new surface.”

It is Busch’s second-consecutive NCWTS win at Bristol, also winning in August 2008, and he now has five career NASCAR victories at the half-mile ‘bullring,’ including in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) earlier this year and in 2007, and in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) in 2006.

His other NCWTS victories in 2009 came at Auto Club Speedway in California and Atlanta Motor Speedway.

It is Toyota’s seventh NCWTS win of the season and 58th victory since joining series competition in 2004.

Brian Scott finished fifth in the Xpress Motorsports No. 16 Albertsons Tundra. It is his fifth top-six result in six races since breaking his right wrist at Michigan in June.

Aric Almirola (sixth), David Starr (seventh), T.J. Bell (eighth), Stacy Compton (ninth) and Timothy Peters (10th) also posted top-10 finishes for Toyota at Bristol, while Tundra drivers Terry Cook (15th), Mike Skinner (20th), Nate Monteith (26th), Max Papis (28th), Tayler Malsam (31st) and Todd Bodine (32nd) were also in the field.

Skinner (third) remains the highest-ranking Toyota driver in the unofficial NCWTS point standings following Bristol, now 305 points behind leader Hornaday. Scott (fourth), Starr (fifth), Bodine (sixth) and Malsam (ninth) are also in the top-10 in points after 15 of 25 races.

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series returns to action at Chicagoland Speedway, Aug. 28.
