Toyota will be entering its sixth season of USAC competition in 2011. Since the program’s inception, Toyota-powered drivers have won races in the National Midget Car Series, Silver Crown and in Sprint Car racing. Included among the victories are both the Turkey Night Grand Prix Midget Car and Sprint Car events, the Copper World Classic and the Hoosier Hundred. Toyota-powered drivers also have won two individual driving championships with Jerry Coons Jr. taking the Silver Crown title in 2009 and Alex Schutte earning top honors in Western State Midgets in 2010. Also in 2010, Kody Swanson became the first Toyota driver to win in all three national classes in the same season with wins in Midgets, Silver Crown and Sprint cars.
COONS LEADS TOYOTA USAC LABOR DAY WEEKEND RUN
TORRANCE, Calif. (Sept. 5, 2011) – Jerry Coons Jr. placed second in Friday’s USAC National Midget Car Series event at the LaSalle Speedway, in LaSalle, Ill., to lead the Toyota contingent in the two national USAC races run over the Labor Day weekend.
