Freestone Results

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (June 6, 2010) – After a week off, The Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship Series resumed yesterday at Freestone Raceway in Wortham, Tex. Freestone Raceway is the newest track on the circuit, holding its first national in 2007. Freestone is known for heat, humidity, and the Texas 12-Pack. The Texas 12-Pack is a series of waist-high sand whoops that are challenging even for the world’s best motocross racers to navigate through, especially late in the motos with the aforementioned heat.

Justin Brayton continues to recover from a practice crash just before the outdoor season opener. He was released to start riding late last week and has been training in the gym with Josh Grant under the direction of the team’s conditioning coach, Tim Gearhart. His back and injured ribs are still very sore, but there is a chance he may compete at High Point Raceway this Saturday.

In the first moto Josh Grant started the race mid-pack in 18th position. With the temperature hovering at 100 degrees, Grant had his work cut out for him. Over the following 30 minutes he methodically passed rider after rider, taking the checkers in fifth place.

When the gate fell for the second moto Grant once again found himself in a challenging position with half the field in front of him. A brief fall further delayed Grant’s charge to the front. The determined Grant pushed forward the entire race salvaging a tenth place finish. Grant’s five-10 moto scores awarded him fifth overall for the day, and he retains fifth in series points.
