HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (March 21, 2010) – The brand new Cowboy Stadium in Dallas, Tex., was host to round 11 of the AMA Supercross Series. Joe Gibbs was on hand with several guests from Interstate Batteries. Interstate Batteries, whose headquarters is in Dallas, is Joe Gibbs Racing’s founding sponsor. The 20-year partnership is one of the longest running marketing relationships in motorsports.

Joe Gibbs made a guest appearance on the live webcast, Supercross Live hosted by Jason Weigandt and Jim Holley. The hosts were joking that the Hall of Fame Coach may not be welcome in the Cowboy’s lair given the storied history between the Redskins and the Cowboys when Coach Gibbs surprised them with an interesting statistic. The win/loss record between the Redskins and the Cowboys during Joe’s career? 50/50. “See, I really haven’t done anything that anyone here should be upset about,” Gibbs told the audience, laughing.

Michael Byrne and Justin Brayton both qualified to the main event through the second heat race. In the main event Brayton started well and began the race in fifth, moving into fourth on the second lap. Byrne had a difficult start and was dealing with a lot of traffic toward the back of the pack in around 15th position. In typical fashion, Brayton rode a steady race trading fourth for fifth, back to fourth, and with just two laps to go back to fifth where he stayed for yet another top-five finish. Byrne advanced to eleventh on lap six, where he remained to the checkers.

The original broadcast from Dallas airs today at 6:00 p.m. (EST) on SPEED. The 12th round of the 17-race series will be March 27 in Jacksonville, Fla. The original broadcast from Jacksonville will air on CBS at noon (EST) March 28.
