JGRMX/Toyota/Yamaha Seattle Results

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (April 19, 2009) – Seattle’s Qwest Field was host to round 15 of the AMA Supercross Championship. A regular stop on the tour since 1978, the oft damp Seattle has been the site of some of the sloppiest mud races in the history of the series. Fortunately, Mother Nature was in full cooperation and 50,016 fans enjoyed perfect conditions and exciting action.

Josh Grant transferred directly to the main event with a third place finish in his heat race. Nathan Ramsey, substituting for Cody Cooper, had the misfortune of finishing one position shy of qualifying in both his heat (10th) and in the last chance qualifier (3rd). Cooper is now training and riding regularly in preparation for the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship Series starting May 23 in San Bernardino, Calif.

In the main event Grant was caught in a bottleneck at the start and was mired toward the back in 13th. He methodically worked his way forward. By lap five he was in ninth, and on lap 15 he was in seventh. On lap 20 when the checkers flew, he was credited with sixth place, and still retains fourth in series points, and is the top-ranked rookie.

After 15 of 17 rounds the Supercross Class (450cc) standings are:

1. James Stewart 332 (10 wins)
2. Chad Reed 329 (three wins)
3. Andrew Short 241
4. Josh Grant 208 (one win)
5. Kevin Windham 205
