Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races Presented by Toyota
August 17-19, 2007
Monterey Historics is a three-day event. Friday is practice day; Saturday and Sunday are split with warm-up activities from 9:00AM till noon followed by seven races on each day from 1:00PM to 5:00PM.
Directions to Laguna Seca Raceway
Getting there
Access to the track and parking can be slow. Rush hour is typically 10:30AM to 12:00PM on the way in and 5:00 to 6:00PM on the way out. At those times, it can take up to an hour to do the last mile and park and up to 45 minutes to do the first couple of exit miles. We recommend avoiding those times.
Please follow these routes to keep traffic flowing to the Monterey Historic Automobile Races. Deviation can cause lengthy delays.
Please avoid the Main Entrance at Highway 68. All vehicles are instructed to enter the raceway via the Fort Ord entrances. South Boundary entrance and Barloy Canyon Road will be open to all inbound and outbound traffic.
Traveling South on Highway 1: Take the Reservation Road (Marina) exit East. Follow race traffic signs and make right hand turn into the East Garrison Gate. Follow signs to Barloy Canyon Road and the Raceway.
Traveling North on Highway 1: Take the Highway 218 exit East (Canyon Del Rey) and travel for approximately two miles. Then turn left on General Jim Moore Blvd. Road. Turn right on South Boundary Road and follow the signs to the Raceway.
Traveling South on Highway 101: Take the Monterey Peninsula/Sanborn Road exit (Salinas). Travel West (right turn off freeway) on Sanborn Road to South Main Street/Hwy 68. Make left turn onto Hwy.68. Take the Reservation Road exit. Make right turn onto Reservation Road. Turn left into East Garrison Gate and follow signs to Barloy Canyon Road and the Raceway.
Traveling North on Highway 101: Take the Monterey Peninsula/Sanborn Road exit (Salinas). Travel West on Sanborn Road to South Main Street/Hwy 68. Make left turn onto Hwy.68. Take the Reservation Road exit. Make right turn onto Reservation Road. Turn left into East Garrison Gate and follow signs to Barloy Canyon Road and the Raceway.
Parking
There is no assigned parking. There will be shuttle buses running from all major parking lots, and courtesy vans (Siennas) will be roaming the area from 7:00AM to 6:00PM
Weather
In August, average temperatures in the Monterey area range from a daily high of 70 degrees down to the low 50s in the evening. We recommend that you bring a sweater or jacket.
Do not miss
You will want to see the 2007 Toyota Race of Legends on Saturday at 12:05PM. Bobby Rahal, Emerson Fittipaldi and eight other legends will race in Scion tCs.
Toyota will have a special-feature garage "Forces of Change" in a central location of the paddock to present performance technology of the past and future. Toyota will also have a large exhibit in what is called the Expo area Featured will be a car corral for Toyota, Scion and Lexus customers, as well as a 2000GT collection.
On Thursday 16 from 3:30-5:00PM, Toyota will conduct a technology forum, "Evolution to Revolution" (see page 4), at which five experts will discuss racing technology of the past and future, moderated by famous Speed TV journalist Dave Despain. The forum takes place at the Laguna Seca Red Bull Energy Center, across the track from the paddock area. Invitations are not required, however an "RSVP" call to 310) 755-7410 would be appreciated.
For a true Laguna Seca experience, we highly recommend you spend some time at the renowned corkscrew corner at the top of the main hill. A Toyota golf cart can take you there and there is a Toyota grandstand at the site.
